Charlotte surprises Miami after the break
It ended with a confrontation between “Rivals Week”. Hornets and Heatopponents from the same division and coincidentally in the first round of the 2016 playoffs.
Often the show wasn’t really there during Sunday afternoon matches, but the Spectrum Center crowd (and especially Kemba Walker in the stands) at least got to witness a welcome return from their beloved.
Actually the players Charlotte defeated those (122-117). Miami, while still pointing to -13 midway through the third quarter. However, management terry rozier (31 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists), PJ Washington (27 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists) and Gordon Hayward (20 points, 100% at address), without forgetting LaMelo ball (19 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists) managed to overwhelm their teammates in the last half. Jimmy Butler Over time (28 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals).
WHAT TO REMEMBER
— Surprise collapse in Miami. Leading by ten points (72-59) with eight minutes left in the third quarter, the Heat surprisingly collapsed when we felt they could step up and make a difference as they looked good on him. A lack of intensity, a more relaxed defense and a more disorganized attack: these were the reasons for this surprising crack caused by Charlotte’s offensive heat. Erik Spoelstra’s men then failed to regain their luster, paying the price for failing to quiet the Hornets with absolute certainty.
— Charlotte’s terrible awakening. Unlike the Heat, the Hornets pulled out all the stops from midway through the third quarter. Under the impetus of Terry Rozier and especially PJ Washington, they effectively bombarded the opposing defense with 3-point baskets and… 24-9! Offensively, Steve Clifford’s men regained their luster in the snap of a finger, and the Florida players failed to slow them down. In both the third and fourth quarters, LaMelo took the ball away from the Rozier/Washington duo and put his team permanently in the dugout.
✅ The Rozier-Hayward-Washington trio. Between the shooting prowess of Gordon Hayward, but above all the distinct shooting of Terry Rozier and PJ Washington, whether in 3-point range, mid-range or in the paint, the Hornets were able to pull off an unprecedented hit. Big Three” minutes to punish the defensive mistakes of a very comfortable Heat. Not coincidentally, Charlotte took action with its transition game and the resulting gaps, ending the third quarter with a score. run away amazing… 32-14!
✅ Jimmy Butler. Tyler Herro (24 points) also brought his rock to the building, but in this part, it was “Jimmy Buckets” who stood out the most on the Florida side. The All-Star winger, who was very clean (11-of-14 shooting, 6-of-7 shooting) and could almost score with the team, was a standout in Florida camp, as the spotlight could almost exclusively come from him tonight. When he left, Miami was weaker, and when he took over the game on his own, Miami had trouble in Charlotte. Too bad for the Heat: The “aggressive scorer butler” mode didn’t show up as much in the second half compared to the second quarter.
⛔ ✅ LaMelo ball. Two quick matchups for the Hornets point guard. Initially held off the plate for three quarters (6 points and 5 turnovers, 2/10 shooting, including 1/8 from 3), he rebounded nicely in the final half (13 points, 5/7 shooting, 3/ 5 inclusive). A life-saving wake-up call for Miami’s team, which could extend the gap on the scoreboard and approach this end of the game more calmly, despite attacks in the minutes. Attacks were parried, especially by this same “Melo”. money time.
⛔ Kyle Lowry. The veteran point guard’s new shy and therefore underwhelming performance: 11 points and 5 assists, 3/11 shooting, including 2/7 from 3… And again, most of his points came when the Heat n failed. ‘it is no longer necessary, that is, at the very end of the fourth quarter, when the match is over. Before that, the Florida franchise couldn’t rely on Lowry in the matchup because he was too clumsy and not aggressive enough to relieve Jimmy Butler or Tyler Herron with the ball.
