Even without Rudy Gobert, the Wolves are proving they can defend well
Still without Karl-Anthony Towns, Minnesota will also have to do without Rudy Gobert, Austin Rivers and Jordan McLaughlin. Not ideal before taking on the Raptors less than 24 hours after losing in Denver. The Wolves’… defense didn’t stop them from achieving one of the best “comebacks” of the season!
Early in the morning in Minneapolis, Chris Finch’s men looked out of sorts, trailing by 18 points early in the game.
They still lead by 14 points with 10 minutes left and 12 points with less than 8 minutes left. Only one solution to break out of this offensive matchup and make a catch: chain stops.
Anthony Edwards followed suit
“The whole team’s effort was great, so congratulations to our team” The author of 16 points in the last quarter satisfied D’Angelo Russell. “We were all on the same wavelength defensively from 1st to 5th in the 4th quarter. Everyone took responsibility. If one guy was beat, the next guy was there and another guy was still behind, that’s what our group has to look like to be successful.”.
D’Angelo Russell doesn’t name them, but three players did a monster job in the final five minutes: Kyle Anderson, Jaden McDaniels and even Anthony Edwards.
Wolves’ young striker impressed with his support and aggression, especially in Pascal Siakam. The Cameroonian could not score a goal in the last minutes. Overall, Minnesota should be congratulated for only two points conceded in the last five minutes!
Have fun on defense
“I am satisfied with the efforts of our football players” Enjoyed Chris Finch. “They didn’t have much energy. It took a long time to find it. In my opinion, the key to the game was that we continued to score goals until we found a rhythm in defense.”.
Oncoming defensive blast Kyle Andersonthe “sticky guy” of the team.
“He was impressive and has a way of having fun in defense” remembers “We have players here who can defend really well. It’s just about focusing on your own player and being ready to help your teammate. You can have fun on defense. We played well on both sides of the pitch in the last six minutes. Now we have to do it for 48 minutes. »
