Stephen Silas thanks Eric Gordon for his expertise
After the Pistons in the East, the Rockets tonight became the first team in the Western Conference to reach 35 losses this season. Losing so many games is never morally good, especially when you’ve had better years like this.Eric Gordon.
The point guard has been upping his scoring game since the beginning of the month, but the results still haven’t followed, and he was spotted with another outburst in the loss to the Lakers.
“We just have to know what to do. We have to make things harder and stronger. We have good times defensively but we need to be more consistent and it’s up to us, the players, to really stick together and really defend.” noted. “We’ve got to be better, better individual defense to make our job easier down the road.”
The various “processes” take more or less time, and the Rockets have made little progress since the beginning of the season, as Houston has lost 16 games in 17 games, including 12 in a row!
Locker room column
Stephen Silas already made a statement about the frustration of the veteran player a few weeks ago. He went further this time, remembering his importance to the Rockets, to his team, and to him.
“It’s difficult for him. He really goes out of his way to help these young people and shows them how to do things the right way. He is a skilled professional. Whether it’s practice, post-workout, the weight room … he’s been there every day in the summer, he has a way of talking to the guys.”he admitted. “He’s not a big guy, but when he talks, kids listen to him. But being around 19, 20, 21 years old playing these games while playing in bigger games is a difficult position for him to be in. It is a difficult transition. So I’d say it does a good job because it can be frustrating at times. But I understand where this frustration comes from.
While former Texas point guard Austin Rivers recently talked about the need for Houston to surround its young elements with good veterans, John Wall attacked the leaders the day before, Stephen Silas confirmed Eric Gordon’s key role in the locker room.
A way to pay tribute to him when he was prompted to leave, pursue another career, or even end it.
“I want the best for all my players. I want the best for them. I want it to be great for them. But as for me, I need him there. You know, he plays a big role and he’s a guy I lean on. He’s the guy I talk to often, one-on-one. I want what’s best for everyone, and that’s how I usually work. But I need him.”
