The durable Porsche wins the day
Extremely rare, this is the Porsche that tops the list of the most expensive cars sold at auction in France in 2022. The car itself is (obviously) one of the rarest as it is a 907 from 1968, the penultimate one. 907 production. But more than its rarity, it’s its track record that accounts for a large part of its value. This racing coupe finished 4th at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring as a works car and participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans three times before joining the Ernst Schuster collection and spent four decades until its sale in 2022. Sold for 4,390,400 euros. This 907 is now on the Retromobile 2023 show poster.

Ferrari supercars are still at the forefront

The 1960s are still glamorous

French stamps at the top of the basket
There are two French manufacturers in this rating. No wonder one of them is called Bugatti. A 1926 Type 37A was purchased in 1957 by actor Jacques Dufilho, who restored and modified it, particularly to improve its performance. Well known to Bugatti experts, 37 “Dufilho” joined its new owner for €894,000 At Retromobile. Another Bugatti asked for a bigger sum, and this car was made in Italy, not France, as it is a 1996 EB110 GT with just over 10,000km since leaving the factory. It was sold by Bonhams in Paris on February 3 for €1,817,000. A more unexpected Frenchwoman entered the picture: a 1950 Gordini type 18S sold for €1,013,200 at the Retromobile show. This unique supercharged Gordini was driven by Juan Manuel Fangio at Le Mans.
