Four years after its launch, the Mercedes CLA has undergone a minor facelift. In the program: some discreet aesthetic changes, enriched standard equipment and the transition to electrification for almost all engines. The release date in France is planned for early summer 2023.

A few months after the A-class, it’s the Mercedes CLA’s turn to go through the restyling box. Like many restyled models on the market, don’t expect a revolution in terms of design. A traditional mid-career facelift is often associated with touch-ups on the front face. You should keep your eyes open to distinguish this redesigned version from the current version. There’s still a redesigned front apron and a new grille adorned with small stars. The light signature is very subtle. LED optics are now standard. At the rear, the diffuser has been redesigned to provide a sportier look.
There are no major revolutions in the design of the compact.
This restyling applies to the Coupé and Shooting Brake versions of the Mercedes CLA. It comes a few months after surgery in class A and B.
The skirt at the back has been redesigned for a more sporty look.
A redesigned skirt is also visible on the front. The light signature develops very little. The grille is decorated with small stars.
The AMG versions of the CLA also get this slight facelift.
As standard, the Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 is equipped with 18-inch wheels.
Micro-hybridization falls on all blocks in the range, except for the 45S version.
The Mercedes-AMG 45S still benefits from a 100% thermal 4-cylinder with a powerful 421 hp.
Mercedes CLA offers new colors: Hyper Blue and Spectral Blue. As standard, the Mercedes CLA Coupé and Shooting Brake are equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels. Three models with 19” wheels are available as an option. AMG sports versions also benefit from this restyling. They are distinguished by a special grille with vertical rails. The AMG badge is located on the hood instead of the star logo. A sportier front apron is also unique to its versions. The Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 4MATIC is equipped with 18-inch wheels as standard. The CLA 45 S version is equipped with 19” wheels.
The latest generation multimedia system
Inside, the Mercedes CLA takes the opportunity to equip itself with the latest generation MBUX multimedia system. The touchpad on the center console disappears to make room for a small storage area. Wireless connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is a must. Mercedes adds an additional USB-C port. The voice assistant has been updated. Some features can now be activated without speaking “Hello Mercedes”. The optional Burmester sound system delivers a new immersive Dolby Atmos experience. Some driving tools have been optimized. According to the manufacturer, the lane keeping assistant would be softer than before.
Starting with the progressive finish, the Mercedes CLA versions offer a high level of standard equipment. Parking Package, Mirror Package or Easy-Pack tailgate For the wagon version, a rear camera, leather steering wheel, high beam assistant are added… Mercedes always offers the possibility to customize its car. AMG versions offer new upholstery for the standard sports seats. They also get a new bi-directional steering wheel.
Blocks electrified for the entire range or almost
Apart from the AMG 45S version, all versions of the Mercedes CLA are equipped with electrified units. It has a 48V battery to accompany the start of the 4-cylinder sedan. The system allows for a slight reduction in consumption, which is about 6.5 l/100 km for the CLA 200 Coupé version. Plug-in hybrid versions benefit from increased range and power. The power unit gains 6 horsepower to go up to 108 horsepower. The higher capacity battery can now be charged with 11 kW (previously 7.4 kW) of alternating current. On direct current, Mercedes advertises a 10-80% charge in 25 minutes.
Available in the CLA 45S and its 421 hp limited special edition AMG Street Style Edition. It stands out with its distinctive paintwork and side skirts with an AMG motif in the shape of a checkered flag. The interior features AMG Performance seats with orange stitching. It is offered in Coupé and Shooting Brake versions. The prices of this new facelift will be announced on April 12, 2023. The first cars are expected to be presented at the end of June.
