Thomas Bryant would find himself playing alongside Anthony Davis
When Anthony Davis He left the court with an injury on December 16 against the Nuggets, and many thought the Lakers’ season would be doomed. Today, the Lakers are 7-6 in 13 games without an All-Star. A positive balance that few people can bet on.
If LeBron James took matters into his own hands this time around, one player revealed himself: Thomas Bryant. The former Wizards center had the heavy responsibility of digitally replacing Davis, and to say the least, he exceeded all expectations. During this period, he averaged 17.2 points and 10.2 rebounds and showed very good percentages.
“I’d say this is just the beginning” Thomas Bryant was delighted. “I, for one, am blessed to have the opportunity to play with these guys and also to play with one of the greatest players of all time. It’s a privilege to be able to play like me now. I don’t take it for granted. It’s a great feeling to be able to play even when you can’t do it in Washington.
Anthony Davis moved to post 4?
Since the beginning of the season, Thomas Bryant has come off the bench and returned to the place of Anthony Davis, but as the latter approaches the return, his assistant does not hide his desire to share a word with him.
“Of course I always keep that in mind” Thomas Bryant admitted. “Being able to relate that to my own qualities gives me the impression that it will be a very good way to approach the match. But I can’t think too much about it now. I just have to focus on the next game, and then the next game, and the game after that until our superstar comes back. For me, I always think about it, I try not to go too far, but I know it will be special, I feel it. But I just need to stay consistent, keep cool and worry about the next game.”.
A lineup of Anthony Davis and Thomas Bryant could be an additional solution for Darwin Ham. Bryant has proven that he deserves to start on the Lakers’ 5, and he can be a good complement to Anthony Davis, who will find this position 4, which he greatly prefers. But that would require changing the system with two “big men” that Anthony Davis often thrives on. First with the Pelicans with DeMarcus Cousins next to him, but also with the Lakers, where he shared the floor with Javale McGee in his first season in Los Angeles. The combination that definitely allows the Lakers to win the title of NBA champion in 2020.
