Lana Del Rey, Sam Smith… these artists releasing a new album in 2023
(ETX Daily Up) – 2022 has been (very) rich with new music releases. Everything makes us believe that 2023 will be as much or even more. Many artists have already announced that they will release new albums in the coming months. Summary of major confirmed album releases.
“TRAP!” By Måneskin
It’s been two years since the Italian group Måneskin won the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Zitti e buoni”. The quartet is now back with their new album Rush. An aura of mystery surrounds this third work, despite the fact that it contains Måneski’s most recent singles, i.e. “Supermodel”, “I Wanna Be Your Slave” or even “The Loneliest”. In an interview with Variety, bassist Victoria De Angelis said that this album is about experience. “Of course, it’s still us, I think the fans will like it. We put songs on there that were written a few years ago without any outside help.”
Måneski’s film “Rush” is scheduled to be released on January 20.
Gloria by Sam Smith
Sam Smith is back after three years of the famous movie “Love Goes”. The self-identified non-binary British singer-songwriter will soon release her fourth album, Gloria. In addition to the film “Unholy” with Kim Petras, there will be collaborations with Ed Sheeran, Jessie Reyez, Koffee. This work marks a turning point in Sam Smith’s career, as it is the first time he has been involved in the production and arrangements of one of his records. The singer describes “Gloria” as “emotionally, sexually and spiritually free.” “It was great to be free-singing again with this album. It’s weird that it feels like my first record,” he said in a press release. Sam Smith’s Gloria will be released on January 27.
“My Queen” by Shania Twain
Shania Twain fans had to wait six years after the release of “Now” to discover new music from the country pop veteran. They all came together on Queen of Me, her sixth studio album. It includes the singles “Waking Up Dreaming”, “Last Day of Summer“, “Giddy Up!”, as well as “Not a Girl”. The latter can be heard in the Netflix documentary “Shania Twain: Not Just a Girl”, which looks at the triumphs and failures of the Canadian singer.
Shania Twain’s Queen of Me will be released on February 3.
“Higher than the Sky” by Ellie Goulding
Since the release of Lights in 2010, Ellie Goulding has established herself as a safe bet on the British music scene. For his fifth studio album, “Higher than the Sky”, he surrounded himself with well-known songwriters and producers such as Greg Kurstin, Koz and Jessie Shatkin. This is definitely one of the most anticipated albums of the year. Paramore will soon release their new studio album, This Is Why, 6 years after After Laughter. We’ll find the song that inspired the disc’s title, as well as “The News.” Singer Hayley Williams shared some details about “This Is Why” on Everything Is Emo, a podcast series for BBC Sounds. He explains that he and his bandmates were inspired by the discography of indie rock bands like Bloc Party during the recording. Paramore’s “This Is Why” is scheduled for release on February 10.

Lana Del Rey’s ninth studio album, Did You Know There’s a Tunnel on Ocean Boulevard? It was even more at risk when a hard drive containing songs from this opus was stolen in October. Despite this setback, the disc will be released in March. Lana Del Rey produced it with the help of American singer-songwriter and producer Jack Antonoff, with whom she has already collaborated on many occasions. What is more surprising is that the American singer also invited his pastor, Judas Smith. Lana Del Rey’s Did You Know There’s a Tunnel on Ocean Boulevard opens March 10.
Metallica’s “72 Seasons”
Metallica is ready to rock the planet once again with their twelfth studio album. This is their first album since 2016. It combines twelve tracks including “Lux Aeterna”. As singer and guitarist James Hetfield explains, the title “72 Seasons” refers to “the first 18 years of our lives that shape who we are, true or false.” The legendary heavy metal band will tour Europe and North America in 2023 and 2024 to promote their new record. “Broken by Desire to Be Sent to Heaven” by Lewis Capaldi
Lewis Capaldi returns four years after Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent with his second studio album, Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent. The Scottish singer announced in March 2021 that he would no longer be performing temporarily in order to devote himself to writing and composing his new work. The following summer, he hit the road again, releasing the track “Forget Me” from Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent in September. Lewis Capaldi’s Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent is slated for release on May 19.
