Killian Hayes and Theo Maledon do the work

This season we’re going back to basics! So here’s everything you need to know about the French in the NBA so you don’t miss Killian Hayes’ three-pointer every Sunday or Rudy Gobert’s new life in his pack of wolves. This week ? A roller coaster ride for Killian Hayes, three worrisome letters for Evan Fournier, a still-dominant Rudy Gobert and Theo Maledon taking his chances where he is.

# RUDY GOBERT

Things were looking good for the Wolves with something like four straight wins, then Rudy and his Wolf friends bowed out against a formidable Hornets armada. Our French pivot didn’t have much to blame this time around, except that Anthony Davis is back to take a strong shot at the league’s top rebounder.

  • Wolves vs Heat: 4 points, 9 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 blocks in 31 minutes on 4/4 shooting
  • Wolves @ Pacers: 21 points on 9/11 shooting and 3/4 shooting, 16 rebounds and 2 assists in 32 minutes
  • Wolves @ Hornets: 6/10 shooting and 5/5 shooting, 17 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1-for-17 points in 34 minutes

# NICHOLAS BATUM

Two small games for Old Nic this week and the Clippers dealing with the fragile health of their star duo. The experience of French and a few others (Reggie Jackson, Marcus Morris…) gives the Californians some pause, but with half of Kawhi’s salary going to Niko, what do you think? ?

  • Clippers vs Jazz: 7 points on 3/5 shooting, 1/3 from the floor, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals in 25 minutes
  • Clippers vs Nuggets: 0 points on 0/3 shooting, 3 rebounds and 2 blocks in 24 minutes

# TO FRANK NTILIKINA

Incredible statistical production worthy of that of Lucas Hernandez in Qatar.

  • Mavericks and Nuggets: DNP
  • Mavericks @ Celtics: 2 rebounds in 2 minutes
  • Mavs @ Raptors: DNP

#KILLIANHAYS

Big concern on Wednesday when Kiki didn’t return from the locker room with an ankle problem, but two days later the Phoenix side was … better. There’s still a lot of variation in performance, but the confidence is back (18 shots on Friday!). Cade Cunningham will likely return to the bench, but we still don’t have Cade today, so we’re taking what we’re given.

  • Pistons @ Nuggets: 9 points on 3/9 shooting, including 1/5 from the floor and 2/2 from the field, 1 rebound and 9 assists in 28 minutes
  • Pistons @ Jazz: 2 points on 1/5 shooting, 3 rebounds and 3 assists in 17 minutes
  • Pistons @ Suns: 17 points on 7/18 shooting, including 1/4 shooting and 2/2 shooting, 8 rebounds, 9 assists and 3 steals in 38 minutes

The Frenchman reappeared on an NBA roster last night in Houston, but after frequenting “la B” and facing Nate Pierre-Louis and Sylvain Jeanpierre in the G League for two weeks, it was difficult to find a rhythm. We want to see more of him, but the Lightning pool is deep, it’s up to him to prove himself, but don’t rush it.

  • Thunder vs. Knicks: DNP
  • Thunder and Nuggets: DNP
  • Thunder @ Rockets: 0 points on 0/4 from the floor, 3 rebounds and 2 assists in 21 minutes

#THEO MALDON

Theo Maledo’s season still lacks logic, stringing matches from the bench, lackluster matches and big performances. When Théo is there, on the other hand, one wonders how in the world he doesn’t play at least 15 minutes EVERY night, especially in a franchise that doesn’t care about results this season. How do you convert a bilateral contract into a fixed term contract?

  • Hornets @ Wizards: DNP
  • Hornets vs Sixers: 4 points on 2/6 shooting, including 0/1 from the floor, 3 assists and 2 steals in 16 minutes
  • Hornets vs Wolves: 14 points on 4/7 shooting, including 1/1 from the floor and 5/6 shooting, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal in 26 minutes

# MUSA DIABAT

Moussa is a SELL in the G League, but given the level on offer (especially the defensive intensity), we sometimes wonder if even our aunt could do it. Not seeing him with Tyronn Lue’s group is pretty inconceivable, but something tells us it could be soon.
