Draymond Green has resumed his role as vocal leader
The reigning champion’s start to the season hasn’t been smooth sailing between Draymond Green’s hit on Jordan Poole and a very disappointing team. An eight-game losing streak on the road was a blemish, and it took until Sunday for Golden State to get its first success away from home. And yet, it was against the Rockets, the NBA’s best…
Two days ago, after another setback in Phoenix, Draymond Green felt it was time to set the record straight and express himself to the group, as he’s used to doing in tough times. The rest is Warriors CEO Bob Myers saying it.
“I talked to Draymond the other day and he told me he was going to talk to the team. I asked him what he was going to say, and he told me, and I thought it was good.”he says. “In every game, depending on the result, you feel good or not, but you have to look beyond that. When you’ve been there long enough, you can sense when it’s time (to talk), and I think Draymond’s been around long enough to know when it’s time. They’re a pretty unique team, guys who’ve been through a lot, so he thought it was the right time. He’s pretty good at analyzing that sort of thing.”

After that performance, Golden State got the best of the Knicks at the Chase Center (111-101), then won that famous first win in Houston (120-127) with Klay Thompson in the tower. Last night, the team even won its third victory in four games. With the calendar and/or circumstances being favorable enough, it’s hard to say whether Draymond Green, who is quick to bite his people, will have an exit. But in the end, the most important thing is that the champions find solutions to their problems.
“You have to ask each person what they think about it, but based on what Klay has done since then, it’s been pretty positive, given how he’s reacted. I’m sure Green wasn’t the only one telling Klay to keep it simple and try to push it. But whatever the reason, “His response showed on the field. This is a positive moment.”Bob Myers continued.
Klay Thompson also used the opportunity to praise his teammate’s ability to speak. “The meeting was very constructive and Draymond is a great motivator. We all reacted very well. I can’t wait to start a new winning streak.”it slipped.
For Bob Myers, this episode shows that the potential controversy over Draymond Green’s punch to Jordan Poole is now a thing of the past and Steve Kerr’s group is now looking ahead. Time is taking its toll, and Draymond Green has reclaimed his role in the locker room.
“As far as Draymond’s position as a leader, I think he understands that given what’s happened, he can’t just go back in the locker room and take it. But it’s been a while. The players and staff are tired of our style of play. And I think Draymond said, ‘I’ll say something.he continued. “Obviously he’s not proud of what he (Jordan Poole) did that day, but he also did the team a lot of good. He spoke a lot and the team reacted from the back.”
