BUGATTI W16 MAKES EUROPEAN PREMIERE IN MISTRAL BAG |
Every year, this unique gathering celebrates the best achievements in the fields of automotive, art, luxury, gastronomy and haute couture. Taking place from September 23 to 25, Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille attracted nearly 16,000 visitors this year.
As is the case every year, three car races dedicated to exceptional cars – the Concours d’Élegance, the Concours d’Etat and the Grand Prix des Clubs – took place on the Château lawns this weekend.
Strongly represented in three competitions, the Bugatti brand also chose Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille for the European premiere of its new Concours d’Élégance entry, the W16 Mistral. With its name inspired by the wind characteristic of the south of France, the Bugatti Mistral W16 quad-turbo 1,600 hp is the perfect roadster, offering total freedom and exceptional elegance.
Bugatti introduced the W16 Mistral model1 for the first time at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering during Monterey Car Week in the US in August. Chantilly Arts & Elegance therefore allowed visitors to see the car for the first time in Europe. A rare opportunity since 99 copies – sold for a single price of 5 million euros – were all already reserved before the first official appearance in Monterey.
The Bugatti W16 Mistral was presented in complete secrecy to a privileged few under the dome of the Grandes Ecuries in Chantilly on Saturday during a very exclusive gala dinner to which Bugatti invited around sixty guests. Visitors to Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille were able to admire the Mistral W16 in the park, right next to the Château where it was displayed.
Throughout the weekend, Bugatti customers and enthusiasts were also welcomed at the brand’s official stand. Many exceptional cars – Chiron2Chiron Sport3Chiron Pure Sport4two Chiron Super Sports5a Divo6, an EB110, a Type 57 Gangloff, a Veyron, as well as the world speed record holder Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse – some of which were leased from customers. Six Bugatti Baby IIs also won over young and old. All Bugatti customer models were present at the Grand Prix des Clubs on Sunday 25 September.
The Bugatti W16 Mistral was one of nine cars entered in this year’s Concours d’Élégance. The cars presented to the jury were chosen because they symbolize the pinnacle of modern automotive design and technology.
Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille was created to honor the spirit, atmosphere and charm of the first automobile Concours d’Élégance in France in the 1920s, as well as the sophistication of the emerging automotive industry’s haute couture creativity. the largest Parisian houses.
A century later, the Concours d’Élégance de Chantilly brings together once again the world of haute couture and the world of automotive excellence to revive this past glory by inviting every car designer to partner with a fashion house. During Sunday’s parade, the cars paraded alongside elegantly dressed models from the biggest houses – choice of outfit and matching the featured car accounted for 25% of the total score.
For this event, Bugatti chose to collaborate with the Paris fashion house Dylan Parienty. Boundless creative, Dylan Parienty was the ideal partner to showcase the avant-garde Bugatti W16 Mistral and dress the model that will accompany it during the show. An elegant and timeless black dress embellished with yellow Swarovski crystals: a clothing choice that reflects the elegance of the W16 Mistral and the sense of freedom it inspires, hinting at its black and yellow interior design.
Designed for automotive adventure, the W16 Mistral pays homage to one of the brand’s most refined models, the Type 57 Grand Raid Usine. Like this legendary model, the W16 Mistral features the black and yellow colors chosen by Ettore Bugatti for many of his personal cars, which – for connoisseurs of the brand – forever define elegance and performance according to Bugatti. To continue to shape the future of the brand, the designers and engineers of the W16 Mistral once again relied on the foundations of Ettore Bugatti, making the most of the latest automotive technologies.
Another highlight of the day on Sunday: the Concours d’Etat, where many Bugatti models are also represented. The brand sponsored two classes: “Bugatti Type 55” and “Bugatti, La Renaissance”.
Four cars were in the first category, two of which were of exceptional historical importance. The one-of-a-kind Bugatti Type 55 Figoni raced at Le Mans in 1932 with legendary driver Louis Chiron and co-driver Count Guy Bouriat. Unfortunately, a stone stuck between the rear axle and the fuel tank caused a leak and deprived the car of the end of the race. However, this did not prevent him from winning several races in Europe later. Also in this class was the Jean Bugatti-designed Type 55 Roadster, one of only 15 examples built and one of the most striking in existence.
The “Bugatti, La Renaissance” class featured four variants of the famous EB110 launched in 1991: the 1994 Bugatti EB110 GT, the 1994 Bugatti EB110 S Le Mans, the 1995 Bugatti EB110 S Sport Competizione and the Bugatti EB1100.
The Bugatti Type 55 Roadster Jean Bugatti (1932) and the Bugatti EB110 S Le Mans (1994) were both named “Class Winners”. Their owners received the awards directly from Bugatti Automobiles Sales and Marketing Director Hendrik Malinowski and Sales Manager Guy Caquelin.
